This fall, Salone del Mobile.Milano will kick off its international tour in Jakarta, Indonesia, bringing the iconic SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection Exhibition to Southeast Asia for the first time.
The exhibition will be hosted during Indonesia Design Week and will display 55 iconic designs out of 415 in the permanent archive.
It will take place from Sept. 18 to Oct. 18, 2026.
SaloneSatellite’s History and Mission
SaloneSatellite, founded and curated by Marva Griffin Wilshire, has been promoting young designers from around the world since 1998.
The event combines creativity and the international furniture industry, making it a unique showcase for young designers starting their careers.
Over the years, SaloneSatellite has featured more than 16,000 young designers from 60 countries, many of whom have gone on to achieve international recognition.
The Permanent Collection Exhibition
The Permanent Collection contains a selection of products produced and marketed by Italian and foreign companies over the years since the first edition of SaloneSatellite.
The collection has been housed at Artwood Academy in Lentate sul Seveso since November 2018 and has been exhibited abroad to show different perspectives on the history of SaloneSatellite.

The selection created for Indonesia Design Week offers a 360-degree tour of the vast world of creativity, showcasing the typologies, processes, materials, and trends at the heart of the numerous products born in SaloneSatellite.
They will include works such as Sebastian Wrong’s Spun lamp for Flos and the Chab tray-table by Nendo/Oki Sato for DePadova, as well as the Plank Chair by Indonesian Studio Hendro Hadinata.
Cultural Diplomacy and Global Connections
The event marks the first stop of Salone’s new international trajectory of cultural diplomacy and its aim to support global connections starting with Southeast Asia’s booming architectural community.
Marva Griffin Wilshire and her team are working with the Italian Cultural Institute in Jakarta, highlighting the importance of cultural exchange and cooperation between Italy and Indonesia.
As Salone del Mobile.Milano expands its reach globally, it is likely that this event will be just the beginning of a new era of collaboration and innovation in the design world, with potential long-term effects on the industry and its stakeholders.
The exhibition will run at the Townhall of the Indonesia Design District in Jakarta, offering a unique opportunity for design enthusiasts and professionals to experience the best of international design.
